To the great joy of tourists who like to visit the former residences of monarchs, near the Bulgarian Varna, a local landmark - the royal residence - is resuming its work. According to preliminary information shared by the project manager for the reconstruction of the facility M. Roeva, the first groups of tourists will be able to get inside the majestic palace in the third decade of March.
Today, the ex-residence of the kings of the Third Bulgarian Kingdom is owned by the government and is used as the main historical and cultural attraction in the vicinity of Varna. Two years ago, the facility was closed for large-scale reconstruction, financial assistance for which was provided by the European community. According to official information, 9.8 million units of local currency were spent on the restoration of the palace.
Although the work was fully completed at the end of last year, the specialists did not manage to finish the restoration of the furniture. Therefore, as soon as it takes its usual place, the palace will again be ready to receive history buffs.
The project manager for restoration works M. Roeva announced the new cost of the excursion for the visitors. So, from the moment of opening, the guests of the complex will have to pay no more than 15 levs, and the privileged categories (elderly people, schoolchildren and organized groups of visitors) are planning to provide good discounts.
The restorers managed to create all conditions for visitors with disabilities. In particular, in the center of the palace there will be a panoramic elevator, from which you can see the prince's bedchamber, the salon in which the rulers received guests of honor (the walls are made of mirrors), the monarch's study and a number of interesting rooms.
Visitors will be able to look at the collection of royal things that have been preserved to the present day. They will be collected on the third floor. At the end of the excursion, guests will have a walk through the stables and the park where lilies and roses grow. Several greenhouses will also be available for visiting, in which you can find a number of plants atypical for the region. Separately, you can visit the ruins of the ancient fortress "Kastritsi", on the territory of which excavations are taking place.
